General Questions

Is this really free?
Yes, you will receive a premium theme.  You will need to sign up for a no contract hosting plan at one of our hosting partners but hosting is a cost that you must incur when running a website -- after all, someone needs to pay for the computers, power, tech support and so on.  So if you don't have a website, you will need to sign up for hosting somewhere -- and it should be at one of our extremely highly rated hosting partners (we're only allowing the best web hosts on FreeWP).  And if you already have a website hosted somewhere, you can simply cancel your hosting account or let it expire and come over to FreeWP and sign up for hosting here so you can get your free premium WordPress theme.  Have a little bit of time left on your existing hosting contract?  No worries, we'll be here when you're ready.

What do I get?
You get a free premium WordPress theme when signing up for a hosting account.  You get to choose the theme from hundreds listed on our site.  We've built an industry-leading search tool to help you narrow down the choices as we know it can be daunting to pick a theme.  No rush.

How do I use my theme?
Good news!  You don't have to worry about installing your theme -- you just have to write posts like normal.  Part of our requirements (one of many!) for our web hosting partners is that they must install both WordPress and your theme on your brand new web hosting account.  The hosting company will provide you with a URL, username and password with which you can login to WordPress.  Then you just get writing!  Simple as that.

What is the exact process?
It's simple.  First you pick a theme on FreeWP.  Then you go through our easy checkout process (no payment information will be taken) where you pick your hosting plan.  Lastly, after you click the button at the bottom of our checkout process, you will be directed to the hosting provider that you picked and the hosting provider will take a little bit of final information from you (no, we won't ask you fill out anything twice) and then you're done!  The hosting company will let you know how to login to your new WordPress account and from there it's simple to get started (the WordPress backend is renowned for it's ease of use).

After that you'll get an email from us with information on how to set up an account at the theme company. You only need to do this if you want an easy way to download your theme files and/or get support for the theme (ie, if you don't know how to use something in the theme's admin panel).  This step is optional but we do recommend that you complete it as it's completely free and it can be a big help.
